The Salesforce jobs Agentforce created — and how to aim your resume at them

The Agentforce era didn't just add AI features to Salesforce — it created new job titles. Roles that barely existed two years ago are now among the fastest-hiring, best-paid seats in the ecosystem: Agentforce Specialist, Forward Deployed Engineer, Expert Agent Builder, AI Builder. Salesforce itself is posting them by the dozen, and partners are chasing the same people. The problem for most job-seekers is that their resume is still written for the old roles — admin, developer, consultant — even when the work they've done maps neatly onto the new ones. This is about naming that overlap: what these roles actually are, what they screen for, and how to aim your resume at them. It builds on, but is distinct from, simply listing AI skills — that's the baseline; these are the destinations.

Why these roles exist now

Agentforce is autonomous AI that takes actions inside a business's systems, and standing that up in production is a real discipline: configuring agents, grounding them in trusted data, deploying them safely, and supervising what they do. Companies discovered they had no title for the person who does that — so the ecosystem grew several. If you have built or supervised agents, you can credibly target them.

The new roles, named

  • Agentforce Specialist / AI Agent Specialist. Designs and supervises AI agents: agent configuration, topics and actions, data grounding, and secure deployment. The closest evolution of the admin/consultant path, and the one most people can reach first. There is now an Agentforce Specialist certification for exactly this.
  • Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE). A technical builder who designs, builds, and deploys custom Agentforce solutions inside customer environments — half engineering, half customer-facing delivery. Salesforce is hiring these directly.
  • Expert Agent Builder. The deep end: architecting complex, multi-agent and headless agent systems for the hardest problems.
  • AI Builder. A blend of software engineering, consulting, and solution engineering — building AI-enabled solutions end to end.

What they screen for

The most desirable 2026 hires combine three things: business fluency, system design, and the ability to ship AI solutions reliably. Concretely, that means Agentforce (configuration, grounding), Data Cloud as the data foundation agents run on, plus Apex and Flow — and, at the senior end, reusable accelerators and implementation playbooks and familiarity with cloud data platforms. The through-line is shipped in production, not studied in a badge.

Position your resume for the target role

Listing "AI" is not enough; name the agent work the way these roles are described. Foreground what you configured, how you grounded it, how you deployed it, and what it changed:

Before: "Built a chatbot in Salesforce."

After: "Built and deployed an Agentforce service agent: configured topics and actions, grounded it in Knowledge and Data Cloud, and shipped to production for tier-1 deflection — cutting case volume to human agents 30%."

Same work — the second reads like an Agentforce Specialist, quantified and production-real.

Pick the lane and target it

These roles reward focus. If you are customer-facing and technical, position for FDE — delivery in the client's environment, the same judgment the consultant guide prizes. If you are admin/consultant-rooted, Agentforce Specialist is the nearest step. Then tailor the resume to the posting's exact language, and pursue the Agentforce Specialist credential from the certification roadmap to make the pivot legible.

Don't overclaim the agent work

These interviews probe hard on what you actually shipped — how you grounded an agent, what guardrails you set, what broke at scale. Claim only real agent work, and be ready to walk through it. A resume that reads as an agent builder but can't defend a single deployment ends the conversation fast; one honest, well-told agent project beats a keyword pile.

Keep the agent story in one place

Agent work is scattered across projects and easy to undersell when you rewrite from memory. In the SFCV builder your roles, certifications, and quantified outcomes live together, so the agent you configured and shipped becomes a resume bullet you can aim at each of these new roles on the jobs board — and defend in the room.

The AI era rewrote the org chart of the Salesforce ecosystem, and the new seats are open now. Learn the titles, map your real work onto them, name the agents you built and grounded and shipped, and your resume stops reading as "an admin who saw a demo" and starts reading as the person these brand-new roles were written for.
